News & Observer food critic Greg Cox says: With its casual cosmopolitan atmosphere, well-trained wait staff and contemporary American bistro menu, Porter's offers a welcome alternative to the pizzerias and burger joints of Hillsborough Street. Half-pound burgers, fish tacos and oyster po-boys are great for a quick bite. Steaks and chops are excellent, too, and the fresh fish special is always a good bet.
